The title industry uses a lot of paper—a lot. Consider this: On average, a single closing generates 460 pages of paper. Multiply that number by the industry forecast of 5 million sales and 2.8 million refinance transactions in 2008, and you’re looking at using 7.2 million reams of paper this year alone.  Generally speaking, one tree produces 16 reams of paper, so this year the title industry is projected to consume more than 450,000 trees. This is clearly not a sustainable practice.  Eco Brokers are working toward ecofriendly solutions to reduce paperwork.  Education of the public and awareness are one way that we can contribute. If large numbers make small changes, the impact can be substantial.
